Our team is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for the children in our care at the orphanage. We are committed to their well-being and development, and work tirelessly to ensure they have the support and resources they need to thrive.

Our small team is made up of passionate individuals who truly care about making a difference in the lives of these children. We believe that every child deserves a loving and stable home, and we are honoured to be able to provide that for them here at The Sorcha Children Foundation.

Director & Co Founder

Mukasa Moses

Mukasa was himself an orphan, and thanks to the kindness of an American couple, Smith & Chloe, he was rescued from the streets when he was about three or four. Sadly the couple passed several years ago and Mukasa has been repaying their kindness by continuing on with their legacy. He is completely dedicated to making a positive impact on the children's lives. Mukasa has registered the foundation and has a vision for not just the Sorcha Children Foundation but his community and other orphanages in Uganda. He has a very kind heart, has been very committed to his studies and wants to make a difference to the lives of the people he meets. Head of Operations

Kwagala

Kwagala has been a dedicated member of the orphanage since 2021. She is responsible for all the meal planning and cooking and also ensures that each night the children are clean and tucked up safely and she does everything in between. She too dedicates her life to ensuring the children are well looked after and happy. Prior to joining the foundation she worked on a farm and she joined the orphanage after bringing a sack of maize. Kwagala has the largest of hearts and at 70 years of age, she works tirelessly for the children.

Supervisor

Kalange

Kalange joined the foundation during covid, he met the founders during his old employment and became close to the couple and Mukasa. Due to covid restrictions, work was limited in his old career as a driver and he ended up helping out the team. We got very lucky indeed, he takes a very active role in supporting Mukasa and Kwagala to ensure everything runs as well as it can and he is playful, great fun and always brings the jokes.

Behind The Scenes

We have a small team of people behind the scenes. Firstly Sorcha & Sally who are based in the UK , they donate their time to help us raise funds for the foundation. Sorcha is the trustee and ensures that all donations are transferred to us safely, and Sal supports by managing all the our sponsor a child scheme. They look after the website, the gofundme page and anything else we need help with. All of their support is completely voluntary, so anything you donate comes directly to the foundation.

As part of the NGO registration, we had to change our name, previously the Mukasa Children Foundation, we were unable to register the foundation as the name had already been taken, so after lots of brainstorming and a little disappointment (so many names already taken), The Sorcha Children Foundation was chosen, as its not a known name in Uganda & we wanted to show are gratitude to Sorcha, she has been helping us for many years now, we call her mum. You can find out more about Sorcha and what she does here, she will be taking an active lead on the board of the NGO.

Katie is based in the Midlands in the UK , she has created something magical, her guiding principle is that luck is the difference between having somewhere safe to sleep, parents, food and education, and wanting to share some of that luck, Katie has curated the Suubi handcrafted gem stone jewellery range, where profits from every sale contributes towards the daily needs of the children.
